Corporate Social Responsibility

As a Group we recognise that we have a responsibility towards all our stakeholders and the community in which we operate.  Since our beginnings the Founder has always made it a point to support various initiatives and charitable causes and today the Group remains firmly committed to this.  At the moment our CSR activities are focused on two general areas being the Environment and Education.

The Group has invested in the development of an Academy aimed at helping people aged 14 years upwards to enter the food industry, learn skills and engage in personal development activities.  In this regard the Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Malta through which together with the Ministry of Education a collaboration is developed which enhances the formation and development of students and young people aged between 14 and 25 years.  Through such an agreement those participating in the programme will have the possibility to learn about food manufacturing and the catering industries as well as other areas of vocational and applied learning.

The President’s Trust

The President’s trust has been set up by Her Excellency the President of the Republic of Malta with the scope of supporting vulnerable young people in taking charge of their lives.  The Trust supports and develops programmes aimed to prepare young people to find employment and provide training in professions, trades, business, vocations and sills required for employment.

The Group has signed another Memorandum of Understanding through which it co-operates with The President’s Trust and participates in the programmes developed and launched by The Trust.

The Environment

It is our belief that we are responsible to protect the environment and ensure that we preserve it to the best extent possible for future generations.  It is with this in mind that we have gone to great lengths to ensure that our production facility and production processes are as friendly to the environment as they can possibly be.

  • A demand site management system in order to improve overall performance

  • The manufacturing site is designed to make the best possible use of natural light

  • Installation of highly efficient motion detection LED lights

  • Innovative design of hot air exhaust systems

  • Thermally insulated areas

  • Water consumption reduction programme

  • Waste management programme aimed at reducing, reusing and recycling as much as possible

  • Harvesting of rain water

  • Implemented heat exchangers and invertor technology resulting in almost savings of 150,000kwh per annum

  • Two reverse osmosis units

  • Installation of over 2,000 photo voltaic panels generating 890,000kwh per annum

As a group we are continuously striving to ensure we take all measures to be as environmental friendly as possible and we engage in projects aimed at achieving this objective.
